River’s Edge Treehouse Resort is conveniently located just minutes from fuel, shops and dining. A few miles farther will bring you to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Tail of the Dragon with 318 curves in 11 miles, the Cherohala Skyway climbing to mile high mountain tops, Moonshiner 28 with many waterfalls and the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway.
Other nearby interests include the Cheoah River with class 5 white water rapids, rafting on the Nantahala River, Lake Santeetlah, Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest, the Appalachian Trail, Tsali Mountain Bike/Horse Trails, Fontana Dam and Lake, and the Great Smoky Mountain Railway.
Nearby North Carolina towns to explore include Franklin for gem mining, Bryson City for the railroad, Cherokee for native culture and Harrah’s Casino. Venture a little farther to Highlands, Cashiers and Brevard for many quaint shops and antiques. Plan a full day in Asheville to see the Biltmore. Crossing into Tennessee you might enjoy Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge/Dollywood, Sevierville and the more laid-back Townsend.
